About Our Subject
Computer Science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes” ― Edsger W. Dijkstra Computational thinking is an essential skill that help students across a wide range of subjects and in life beyond school. We aim to deliver a curriculum that will equip students with a range of skills that will help them participate fully in life in the digital world. Students will study a wide ranging curriculum that will give them the skills they need to access the Key Stage 4 work. The topics that students study at Key stage 3 include, e-safety, understanding computer systems, cyber security, data handling, app creation, web design, digital sound, image editing, networks, and programming using Kodu, Scratch and Python.
Key Stage 3 Information

Key Stage 4 Information
OCR GCSE Computer Science J277 – This qualification is split into two areas Component 01 – Computer Systems It is an examined unit and makes up 50% of the assessment total. Component 02 – Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming Students will be tested on the elements of computational thinking and logic. They are principally assessed as to their ability to write, correct and improve algorithms. Component 02 is an examined unit and makes up 50% of the assessment total.
